RESIDENTS PLEASE NOTE THIS IMPORTANT MESSAGE:

The grassy swale area directly adjacent to every public roadway within the City of Miami Beach is public property. This area, together with the roadway itself, is designated as the City Right of Way (ROW). The area between the pavement edge and private property, although unpaved, is part of the City ROW. The ROW varies in width depending on the neighborhood, but is wider than the road itself to allow for improvements or access to the roadway, utilities, drainage or other necessary City functions. The City's Planned Progress ROW Improvement Program is utilizing these areas to improve drainage as well as to
establish shade tree canopy and enhance landscaping for the benefit of all residents. In some cases, these improvements, which have been planned with extensive community input and have been approved by the City Commission, WILL REQUIRE THE REMOVAL OF EXISTING ELEMENTS NOW ENCROACHING ON the City ROW. Adjacent residents will be notified if improvement plans require the removal of existing encroachments. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, residents must contact the City's Public Works Department and obtain a permit before making ANY improvements in the ROW in front of their homes. REMEMBER YOU MUST OBTAIN A PUBLIC WORKS PERMIT OR RISK HAVING THE IMPROVEMENTS REMOVED. Call 305-673-7080 for more information.
